Meet Korai

Karen Amaya - Korai, as what her friends call her, is a young mom from Mindanao. A mommy misfit. She loves music, tattoos, hair dyes, and good food.
She is a dedicated wife to her husband, a loving mom to her two kids, hard-working WAHM/Entrepreneur and a brutally honest friend.

She has been an advocate for natural parenting since 2012 because of her experiences with her son. It all started a year after his first son weaned from breastfeeding and started to become sickly. It was a very devastating moment for her and her family. Jolo, her first child, was admitted in an ICU due to a complication of pneumonia and dengue. She almost lost her child. After that incident, she vowed to promote natural parenting and made an effort to help educate her co-moms/friends. She devoted her time to educate herself. Thus, joining different seminars and support groups. She attended different babywearing, breastfeeding, Tamang KAIN and Baby-Led Weaning Seminars. She became a moderator at Babywearing Philippines and helped organize the yearly International Babywearing Week celebration in Davao City. She also graduated from a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training conducted by Breastfeeding Pinays last 2017. Eventually forming her own online support group, Dawow Moms, in Davao along with her co-admins - promoting natural parenting as their main goals.

She loves to talk about anything parenting related. It can be about babywearing, cloth diapering, baby-led weaning, breastfeeding, bento making, homeschooling and many more. Hence, the birth of her personal blog www.mommykorai.com.
