Hakab Na! 2017 | Protect, Support and Promote Breastfeeding

2:55 PM

It takes a village to BREASTFEED a child. Yes, you heard it right! Breastfeeding is more than a mother and baby thing. It is more than food. It is economical, empowering, nutritious, immunity booster, food security, safety and many more. Every breastfeeding mother needs help from her family, community, friends, government and medical practitioners in order to succeed. I believe that behind every successful breastfeeding momma is her network of people who supports her. This journey we choose may look easy but sometimes we will encounter bumps along the way. Some mommies are discourage and stopped breastfeeding because of misinformation and lack of support. That is why I am very thankful that support groups exist here in the Philippines. If you follow this blog and my social media accounts, it is obvious that I passionately advocate for breastfeeding. In this light, I am extremely thrilled that Hakab Na! 2017 is just around the corner. On August 5, 2017 breastfeeding moms, advocates, families and supporters will gather to celebrate Hakab Na! 2017.

ABOUT HAKAB NA!

Hakab Na! is an annual gathering of breastfeeding moms from all over the Philippines. This event is organized by Breastfeeding Pinays and has been successful since 2013. Hakab Na! aims to raise awareness and promote the importance of breastfeeding. This event also coincides with the celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month by Department of Health in pursuant to Republic Act (RA) 10028, otherwise known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009.

The program consists of informative talks from knowledgeable speakers, mommy-baby bazaar and fun-filled activities for the family. This is also an opportunity to meet your online breast-friends. Aside from talks and games, one of the Hakab Na! highlights is the Big Latch On. The Big Latch On (BLO) is an activity when mommies all over the world simultaneously breastfeed their babies at exactly 10:30 a.m.

This event is also open to pregnant moms and those who already weaned their babies.
