Fabulous Civil Wedding on a Budget

4:54 PM

As most of you may not know, John and I started out only as text mates in a group messaging circle way back 2008. We've been together for 8 years and already blessed with a lovely child named Jolo. Actually, there was no formal proposal at all, we've been talking about weddings but never talked in details. We never got around to figuring out when to get married until this year. He just randomly pops the question, and every time we ended up saying "Next year siguro". Hahaha. Jolo just finished his kindergarten, we have our little savings, and we figured it's the perfect time for us to finally tie the knot.

CEREMONY

We had a civil wedding ceremony last April 18, 2016. We tried to coincide the wedding date with our 8th Anniversary as boyfriend-girlfriend, which is 19, but the date is already booked. So we settled with 18, it will also make it easier for us to remember our anniversary. Lol.

Requirements and document service fees cost only around 1,000 pesos in total. Another 500 pesos for the Judge.

After submitting the requirements at the Hall of Justice in Davao City, we only got 18 days to prepare for the big day! We choose to have our ceremony at Hall of Justice. Then proceed to our reception after. Since we're on a tight budget, the plan was to have an intimate lunch with our family and some close friends then proceed to our honeymoon. Chos!

Two of our closest friends, Joy & Michael became our witnesses. Our parents & witnesses we're the only people attended the wedding ceremony, everybody was waiting at the reception.

We didn't have prenup photoshoot, instead we opted for postnup just after the ceremony. Para tipid sa make up at talent fee ng photographer. We hired Kryselle to be our photographer for the day. I got the chance to book her on at a promo rate for P2,000 only.

#OOTD

For my dress, I just purchased this dress from SM Lanang Department Store for only P1,000. My shoes are also from SM Lanang Dept. Store for 600 pesos. My husband's outfit is worth 1,000 pesos in total (long sleeves & pants). I love how our clothes can be reused in many occasions, so there is no waste of money here. I couldn't imagine spending tons of cash for clothes that will be worn once.

For my accessories, I got my flower crown for just 40 pesos from Butingtings in Uyanguren. And brought my bouquet at a flower market in Bankerohan for only 300 pesos.

HAIR & MAKE UP
Ang ganda diba? LOL
Make up should be on fleek on my wedding day, so I hired Ms. Daisy Lucernas as my HMUA for P1,300 pesos. You can check here facebook page: HMUA Daisy Lucernas. While my guests just did their own makeup. For my hair color, I also dyed my own hair days before the wedding day to save cash.

RECEPTION

Trellis 'n Vines located at F. Torres Street, Davao City
After searching thru Facebook, asking for recommendations and 2 days inquiring from one restaurant to another, we finally decided to celebrate at Trellis 'n Vines. They offer affordable buffet packages for events like this. We only spent 14,000 for 50/pax food which includes 4 viands, fruits, rice and drinks. 4 hours use of the air-conditioned function room, waiter services, and sound system are also included in their packages. Sulit right?! They even offer to prepare 60 seats even though we only paid to 50 people. The staff at Trellis 'n Vines are so accommodating and polite. From online inquiry to our ocular visit, they are always prompt in attending to our questions. It makes me want to celebrate another event their soon. The food was absolutely delicious. Lastly, our lechon, which is the favorite of most Filipinos during weddings was donated by my in laws & parents.

Catering & Venue: Trellis 'n Vines

Most of the items in our reception are donations. Annie, a friend and owner of Fayery Concepts, lent us some props which we used as decors on the venue. I'm so thankful that she designed and prepared the venue for us. We also hired her as our master of ceremonies for the day. Her jolly and engaging personality made the program lively & fun.

For event organizing and hosting you may contact Annie at Fayery Concepts.

I'm not really into souvenirs that our guests can't use on the daily basis. So for the giveaways, my uncle baked cookies and placed it in a cute packaging. I don't want anything to go to waste. Save Mother Earth! Yeah!
We wanted wedding cake & cupcakes to be simple, cute and delicious. Then I found about Karley's Kitchen on Facebook. We got the cake package for only 1,440 pesos (2 tier Choco moist cake with soft icing and 30pcs cupcakes with customized toppers). I just sent my design for the toppers.

Wacky!

All in all we only spent around 20,000 pesos for the wedding with 50 well-fed guests. Who says wedding should be expensive? You just need to be creative and wise. Set a budget and make a list of your priorities. As much as possible don't go over your budget. Ask for help from your friends and relatives to lessen the expenses. Be realistic. Spend on how much you can and within your means. You don't want to have an extravagant wedding today and no saving for tomorrow, right? Lastly, be happy. No matter how lavish or simple your wedding is, the most important thing is you and the love of your life finally tied the knot.

I'd love to hear your wedding stories below!
